In great shape, riding coast to coast, and a font of information on riding, bikes, photography, and the meaning of life.

I've got a ways to go.

I have been exchanging messages with Al Fragola (Aviator47 on MV) concerning my trip to Italy and he has been super helpful, particularly in confirming that the rental shop I found is in fact top notch and is the one they use for their Italian scooter tours.

Al remembers you from when he lived on Whidbey Island in Washington state before moving to the Greek Island of Paros. He says he did a fair amount of riding on Vancouver Island with a group called "Scootering Vancouver Island Style" and that he and his wife still keep in touch with some members by email, and that's where he met you.

That confirms my suspicion, that you know every single notable powered two-wheeler rider on the face of the planet.David Massehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09346419242154545286noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7776318709416054670.post-77464087030646627402014-02-06T12:53:31.584-05:002014-02-06T12:53:31.584-05:00David:

Also done like a professional would

but I keep thinking about those Clymer Manuals sort of like this:

1) remove windshield
2) connect power to switched outlet
3) mount controller using supplied hardware

blah, blah, blah . . .

and re-assembly is the reverse of disassembly

and enjoy your grips

On my bike the factory leaves a switched connector, available for switched power accessories. To access this switch it merely states.

Remove gas tank and the wire is near the top of the radiator, plug in and re-assemble.

easier said than done.

I keep looking at your goal: May 2014 target 180

I started at 182.5 and the other day I was up to 186. Most old bikes are set for 13.5-13.8v. But they use whatever makes their product look better. Some had expressed the opinion that the LX 150's electrical system wasn't up to the task. I did a lot of research and concluded that the 150 could just barely handle the grips without issues.

I was comfortable enough to give it a shot and there was never an issue.

I didn't bother with the same rigorous approach with the GTS because lots of people have added heated grips to that model and there are no reports of the battery discharging.

When you look at some of the specs for heated grips on the web, it's amazing how many experts get the amps to watts calculation wrong.David Massehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09346419242154545286noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7776318709416054670.post-40394028489417886852014-02-05T16:34:44.529-05:002014-02-05T16:34:44.529-05:00Thanks Len, you're too kind. Thanks Len, you're too kind.David Massehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09346419242154545286noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7776318709416054670.post-51354060440067351282014-02-05T16:15:11.804-05:002014-02-05T16:15:11.804-05:00Nice write-up with all of the photos.
