Call me crazy!

I'm toying with the idea of putting a Quick Response Code ("QR code") on my Vespa. Curious folks who want to know more about me, my Vespa, and our adventures could use the QR code to link to this blog.

If you're curious, give it a try.

Install a QR code scanner on your smartphone and try reading the QR code your computer screen with your smartphone. Worked like a charm on my iPhone using the ScanLife app.

Very cool It worked fine on my Android phone as well. How did you get a QPR code?

Oh...and after reading your last post on my blog, you have been spending way to much time in the garage with the bike motor running my friend. :)

Rob, I wanted to see if I could fool you into deleting my comment thinking I was a robot spammer.

If you Google "quick response code" you'll see at least one QR code generator. You feed it a URL and it generates a QR code, all for free.

Smart phone, I am still in the 90's with my dumb phone. Cool idea though.

I could use my ipad and hold it up to the computer screen when I get home - now that would look funny.

Pretty funny Trobairitz. My wife swore by her "dumb" phone... until she lost it in Florida.

I wasted no time buying her an iPhone. Now she's an iPhone addict.

Be kind to your dumb phone. It might soon be irreplaceable.

This worked fine for me, but I had to download the App that you recommended. The one I tried before did not create any results. I think it is a great idea having this code on your Vespa!

Brad's dumb phone has gone through the washer and dryer and works fine. darn things are near indestructible. But I shall cry when it goes kaput. Well not cry per se, but I'm sure I'll swear a lot.

I am resistent to smart phones since we have a cheapo pay as you go plan that costs about $20 every three months for each phone. We can text and call. Hard to get something that cheap in a smart phone plan - and we try to be frugal since we hardly use our phones.

I think the QR code could be the wave of the future for for ID and medical info and if we had this and it was in widespread use for medical personnel it could be a wonderful thing. As it is now I have ICE on my phone with all my info. My QR reader is hit and miss at times, maybe it is the app I downloaded.

I think I have been assimilated and am now part of the Apple Collective as I couldn't live without my iphone, my hubby thinks we are having an affair. OY I am not on it that much when at home.

Roland, we'll see through the riding season whether simply putting the QR code on the Vespa attracts any visitors. The only way to tell will be if visitors send me an e-mail as requested in the new Welcome page.

Dar, it's thanks to you that I have ICE on the lock screen of my iPhone.

It occurs to me that you could set up a web page with your ICE information and link that to a QR code sticker on your bike.

By the way, I just put in an order for vinyl stickers with my QR code. They're going on my Vespa, and my Civic, and I might sneak one onto Susan's Beemer too.

Interesting concept...

I'd rather keep my privacy and if someone wants to know about my scoot they can ask me and we can talk about it.

I am a high tech gal but some things, I don't know...

I hear you Deb, and to be honest, as amazing as all this technology is, and as much as I think I understand it, it does have the potential to freak me out from time to time. It's amazing what you can find out about people simply using Google.

As a blogger, and having a personal web site going way back, I know how much information is out there.

I just think that my QR code on my Vespa is going to be a little like a message in a bottle. I doubt anyone will use it and let me know about it... but if someone does, I think it will be kind of cool.
