Mission... possible!

I work in a big, busy city.

The other day I needed to expedite something that is usually handled by my staff using couriers, and that takes days, sometimes weeks.

The goal was to hop over to one lawyer's office (he's a notary actually, but in Quebec notaries are more like lawyers than the notary public elsewhere in Canada and in the US), and then get some essential paperwork from the first lawyer to our lead outside counsel's office.

Taking a car wouldn't work because of parking issues in Old Montreal and at the stock exchange tower in the lower downtown core.  Cabbing it would certainly have worked, but would still have taken time to hail or order a cab, and would have been boring, and would have cost my employer money (probably $40 or more).

The situation made hopping on my Vespa for a mid-afternoon jaunt the obvious right answer.  Parking issues: zero; cost to my employer: zero; speed and efficiency: off the chart because I slipped past traffic; employee morale: high, and priceless!

Mission accomplished in record time with a huge smile on my face!

Well done, sir! And thumbs up for a sensible solution of the problem. Your scoot looks mighty handsome by the way.

Just what I was thinking! A handsome photo of a handsome scooter!

Notice that no one said that the rider was "handsome", only your scoot

$40. may have been cheaper if you factor in your renumeration . . .

PS: don't try to park like that in Vancouver

I do that for my private job. It's fun just to get out and ride a bit. Plus that way I know it's done right too!

Sonja, sensible is my middle name :)

Martha, a compliment from you for a photo is high praise indeed. Thank you.

Bob, duly noted. In my defence, I remind my friends that you took the avatar photo I am using. It's possible, though not very likely, that you didn't do the subject justice.

Rob, that's just what I was thinking.

Dave, you know, on some days that would be a welcome change.

There is no better way to break-up the monotony of day and a good excuse to go riding. I did the same thing last week and made a big deal of it to my boss - little did he know how much it was for me to escape and ride. Great picture! Is that a vino beside the mighty Vespa?

David Masse said...

Dar, it could be a Vino. To be honest, I only have eyes for my GTS. Sad, but true.

One more reason to own a Vespa - getting out of the office for a while on an "errand". I see more of these in your future. Arm raised in the air, hollering pick me pick me.

Any excuse is a good excuse, especially when the weather is as nice as it has been. Not so sure I'd be putting up my hand in an all out storm though.

David Masse said...

Trobairitz, Vespas really are the most amazing urban transportation vehicles.

Karen, of course that's true, but, I have to say that if it had to be, and there was no other way, I'd be all over it :)

Aren't scooters cool?!

But of course you knew that!

Deb, too true. We are blessed to be in Sorrento right now. The amazing thing to see are all the 2-stroke vintage Vespas buzzing around everywhere. Many with serious dings, dents, scrapes and scratches, some with missing cowls, and all still up to dodging cars and pedestrians at breakneck speed. Simply amazing!
