Parking in Toronto

Montreal's popular public bike share system is in London, Washington D.C., and other cities, including Toronto.

Just as in its birthplace, BIXI stands have spawned scooter parking in Toronto.

Walking up Bay Street on my way to a meeting yesterday I felt compelled to snap this picture as further evidence of this BIXI-related urban scooter-friendly trend.

Vancouver is NOT so friendly. Scooters parked in bike racks are towed away.

Motorcycles parked in corner clearance areas are towed away

Motorcycles tucked away in crevices on sidewalks are towed away

It is nice that the scooters are able to park by the bicycles.

We are lucky in Corvallis in that the city has taken the areas at the end of all our downtown blocks and painted them a triangle as motorcycles only parking. And if there isn't a triangle painted we still park there and they let us, since we are freeing up a whole space for a car.

Bob's right. Parking of motorized two wheelers in Vancouver downtown sucks big time.
I have seen it differently in Toronto or Montreal, and in Europe a bike can be parked anywhere.

Bob, Trobairitz, Sonja, I think Toronto has all North American cities beat, at least for the time being. I really do think that Vancouver, of all places needs to get with the program.
