The time has come to bid adieu to my trusty Vespa LX150.
We have shared darn close to 15,000 miles of pure fun together, but I'm planning to set my redhead free into the welcoming arms of a yet-to-be-identified stranger, as I shift my gaze to a younger trophy bike with more voluptuous curves. Yes, sad and bittersweet, but true.
Her rival is not a platinum blonde, or a suicide blonde. It's a Titanium Gray, semi-gloss, Vespa GTS 300.
This is just a tease. The plot is afoot. Details to follow in due course. Stay tuned.
PS: Aaaaarghhhh! My GTS dream machine slipped away, the seller's darling wife decided she wanted it. I celebrated too soon. Oh well, back to trolling Kijiji.
PPS: Oooooooh! All is not lost. Another GTS, decent price... shhhhhhh! Got to keep the jynx at bay.

Wow David that is awesome! You are going to love the extra cc's, just gives you a bit more oomph to go places. Hope to see pictures of your new baby soon!
Dar, ah yes... oomph, that's it exactly. I'm going to have to keep up with moto buddies, so oomph is precisely what the doctor ordered.
Pictures will be forthcoming, I promise.
David:
I think you're going to very happy with your new "baby". You're going to be addicted to the increased power.

Glad to hear this. I know when circumstances required me to buy a new bike recently I wanted a little more power as well. It's funny however, your a scooter guy in your heart just like me. Did you even look into buying a "real" bike?
Boys boys - scooter are real bikes, it's a nasty secret bikers don't want to get out.
You bet I'm staying tuned and eagerly awaiting the promised photos.
Congratulations on the upgrade, David. As an LX150 rider myself, I'll miss the vicarious travels with you, but I think you'll be happy with the trade up all the same. Will be waiting for more news...
Oooh I am intrigued. A little more power to get up and go is always good. I am sure you will love it.
On a side note, I now have music from Platinum Blonde stuck in my head. You know, that effeminate hair band from the 80's. Ahhh high school. Quick I need a dose of AC/DC to counteract it.
Bob, I'm sure you're right, in fact I know you are, but the deal has slipped away. I'll get there yet, just not this week.
Rob, 98% of my miles are urban commuting, and a motorcycle would just be way more complicated than a Vespa. I have considered it, to be sure. Even sat my butt on a BMW GS in the showroom. I also know a lot of folks with Vespas and Beemers and Harleys and the Vespa seems more saddle time. Plus I love Vespas, and I haven't work out the addiction yet.
That's what the VIN plate says on my Vespa: motorcycle. But I don't care, too busy admiring my bike and having fun.
See above, gratification delayed, the search continues.
Thanks Dave, but the search continues. There is a very good deal on an MP3 400...
David:
OH NO ! I guess some people have no integrity. It's a DONE DEAL unless something better comes along . . .

Brandy, so sorry for inadvertently planting the ear-worm. Let me try to get you back to the image in my mind... no, better yet, I love the expression "suicide blonde", referring of course to a non-blonde who comes to her blondeness because she "dyed by her own hand".
Infidelity will get you into trouble. Just don’t let the redhead know you have been looking elsewhere.....
Gary, you are so right... got to be discreet... shhhhhh!
I am so excited for you. Roland keeps flirting with Bella, which is now MY scoot after his upgrade. But I am afraid he wants her back... Vespa love is strong. Good luck shopping around. Can't wait to see pics of the newest member of the family.
Sonja, you are so right, there's something so compelling about Vespas. It's also an urban thing. Vespas are like the perfect passport for urban life. You can park a Vespa almost anywhere and the only attention you attract are smiles and appreciation. Never annoyance or opposition. That fact alone makes all the difference for me. My Vespa is as close to no hassle transportation as I think you can get. Add in the considerable fun factor and the aspect of iconic Italian design, and it's so compelling it's hard to resist.
Hi David ..... I have had major work issues of late..... So very little in the way of scooter post.... I will do some when things pick-up.
I still have my gts and can't wait to get back out on it !
I must say it will be a little sad to see your lx disappear from the posts...... But it will be nice to see you rocking it on a gts..... I knew you would end up with one of these

Len, I miss your scooter posts. I'm close to a deal on a black 2010 GTS 300. One of my colleagues has expressed an interest in my LX 150. I know I will miss that bike. On the other hand, the GTS will be such a blast that I expect not to shed too many tears.
I will keep reading all these wonderful blogs and hope to contribute again soon with scoot talk
Cheers and thanks for keeping me on your friends blogs list!!
