Weather watch

We have been blessed with the most incredible weather in 2012, and this summer is spectacular.

I have only ridden in the rain once.

It's still important to watch the weather carefully.  The other night there were massive towering clouds building in the west.

When I reached the lakeshore there were blues skies overhead, but I was riding straight into a storm.

That's when I stopped to take this picture.

Where is that rain falling?  It's really hard to tell.

Five minutes further along the commute the streets were wet, and water was dripping from the trees.  I stopped in the Dorval village and hauled out my rain gear.  Better dry than sorry.

As it turned out, it was a precaution taken for nothing.

Later that evening torrential rain fell and thunder shook the house.

Nothing makes for a better summer riding season than bright, warm, sunny days, and rain at night.  If I were master of the weather, every day would be like that.

It's funny you should post something about rain. I've pretty much run into it one form or another all this past week. Sometimes I run through puddles, other times I am in full rain gear. I've been lucky so far and have not had to deal with it at night. Yet.

I love it when it only rains during the night and is pleasantly warm and sunny during the day.

I agree, it would be nice if every day were like that.

Robert, I don't think I've had the pleasure of rain at night either. Ironically, I think that it would less challenging on an expressway because the wind tends to clean things up and you can shed water from the visor with a head turn. On city streets at slow speeds there is more to look out for, it's darker (at least it is in the city) and there are more reflections.

Trobairitz, what I love is when everything is wet in the morning from a rainfall, and the clouds are breaking up with brilliant sun helping things along.

Men, thanks for the kind words. I started this blog to contribute information to people like me who were thinking of commuting on two wheels and were unsure about what was entailed. It's always a pleasure when a new reader pops in to say hello.
